Description

An icon depicting the most important feast days of the Russian Orthodox Church. At the centre is a depiction of Christ’s resurrection and victory over the realm of death (Anastasis). The lower register shows Christ rising from the tomb and rescuing Adam from the jaws of Hades. In the corners of the central image, scenes from the Easter narrative are depicted. The outer border consists of sixteen smaller images of major feasts.
