Description

This church icon was once part of a church’s iconostasis. The Apostle Matthe.w is depicted full-length, with his head tilted to the right. He is holding a closed Gospel book in his hand. Within the Orthodox tradition, Matthew is regarded as an apostle and the author of the Gospel.

The background of the icon was revealed during restoration.
